I have been a writer and columnist for several years. I believed early on that becoming a writer wasn’t just about me and my work-the picture is much bigger than that. I started writing because I thought at some point I was going to do something really important. I wake up everyday and ask myself, “is today that day?”

In jest, I'd say I’m not sure yet, but I have enjoyed living in the moment. I’ve gained a reputation for getting to the heart of tough issues in my writing. I have been published in a variety of blogs and websites and am a regular contributor for several lifestyle magazines. It was a humbling moment when someone branded me an "influencer." It's an epic responsibility to portray my views and advice, not to promote myself but to candidly help others.

Living in a creative world is not free of self-doubt, criticism and rejection. There's no gentle way to say it; the media can be a merciless and competitive industry. How did I end up here?

After graduating from Saint Mary's College of California with a B.A. in Communications, I lived and worked in San Francisco and I can say with certainty that my 20’s were a bit of a blur. Can you blame me? I tasted my way through Napa Valley and was in a culinary food coma most of the time. Taking a job as a Silicone Valley tech recruiter afforded me a posh lifestyle and an address in Nob Hill, but when the glory of the dot.com faded, so did that chapter of my life.

It might sound cliché, but I left my heart in San Francisco when I packed up my single bedroom Victorian apartment and moved back to what I now call home, Arizona.

I would spend the next 10 years in hotel management before falling in love with something other than a zip code or a fine cabernet. My husband Derek and I were introduced on a blind date and were married 18 months later and since then have been blessed with two very beautiful children.

Around the time I was deep in the trenches of motherhood, I was presented with the idea of writing about 'family life' for North Valley Magazine. This key opportunity fueled my creativity but terrified me at the same time. I was about to spill my soul to the world, accepting the idea that my thoughts would be met by praise and disapproval respectively.

As my journalism career evolves to cover other industries such as travel, automotive, women’s health, lifestyle and personal finance, my passion is still writing about the hurried, worried life of raising a family.

Thanks for stopping by!
